Looks like the Department of Justice is getting serious about child sex tourism.

I was gonna say... did they finally pinch good old Rushie?

Don't think they have the resources to go after all the outfits offering adult sex tourism, like Rush's trip. Glad to see they're making it a priority to go after the child exploiters.

There are people openly making money off of these girls here in the USA. I am glad they are cracking down. More still needs to be done.

Not defending the guy, and perhaps it could be spun sorta like cuba travel.. but am I the only one disturbed he is being charged with breaking US laws in a foreign land?
Easy to discount int his case as he is scum, but what about marijuana smokers in Amsterdam?
And if you say so what.. get them as well.. shouldn't american corps have to follow us labor laws in foreign countries? Min wage and all.

If this person wins in court not only will they be a hero in Rush's eyes but I'll bet a dollar to a cop biscuit that Rush will retain the attorney.
Wait a minute; how can he be charged in a U.S. court for offenses that happened in a foreign land? It's not the jurisdiction of the U.S. Just HTF does the gvmt. get around that? I should be able to go anywhere and have sex with anyone I like if it legal in the jurisdiction to which I travel.
It's basically a conspiracy charge. He arranged the transaction from the US, and the act of making the deal is, in itself, a crime.

somehow missed your comment when i posted mine.
well dave.. what if he didnt?
let say he took a vacation to europe and then while there decided to go to the philippines.. then none of the conspiracy happened in the US, and yet i suspect he would still be arrested.
I figure it is more like cuba, travel and economic activity with this is illegal.. even if you go to another country first(which is what most americas do to get arround the ban).
sex tourism is illegal for us citizens ... and I'm betting it doesnt matter what country you left from or made arrangements from.
However they can get this kind of exploitation under control is okay by me. I just don't want to see sexploitation being encouraged by a weak case. If he can be convicted they can park him in a general prison population as a disincentive to others.

Could it be that the Philippines handed over the jurisdiction? I thought that what happened to a few German sex tourists to Thailand a few years back. Additionally, if he took pictures and those were in his possession they can at least get him for that.
It's disgusting that stuff like this is even happening and that people are allowing it to happen. People need to start cracking down harder on sex trafficking, especially sex trafficking of children.
